Crews knock down Edgemont house fire

Fire crews battled a duplex fire Saturday afternoon on Edgemont Road in the northwest.
Acting Bat. Chief Steve Wilson tells 660News the fire started in the basement.
“When crews got on scene, the fire had already exited the basement window and was burning up the side of the house into the eaves,” says Wilson. “Crews went in with a ventilation attack. They quickly got to the fire and knocked it down.”
Wilson says, there is extensive damage to the basement but luckily, except for some smoke, nothing spread to the neighbouring homes.
No one was injured and the cause is under investigation.
