Charges laid in 1990 sex assault

22 years after the crime, Calgary police have charged a man with sexual assault.

In July of 1990, a man broke into a home on 69th avenue southwest and sexually assaulted a young woman at knife point.

In 2010, DNA taken from the scene was resubmitted to the National DNA Databank and a match was found later that year.  It took some time to gather more evidence to lay the multiple charges.

Thursday, 54-year-old Gerald Raymond Clark, was arrested in his Edmonton apartment and will face a judge in a few weeks.

He has been charged with sexual assault, sexual assault with a weapon, forcible confinement, attempted robbery, uttering death threats, carry weapon dangerous to the public and house break and enter commit.
