17th Ave. transit plan has businesses buzzing

A transit plan nearing reality along 17th Avenue S.E. has local businesses and residents excited.
The idea is to improve bus service, widen sidewalks, and add cycle lanes along 17th Avenue between Deerfoot Trail and Stoney Trail.
The $300-million project is expected to greatly enhance the area known for its array of international shopping.
A city committee will review the plans Wednesday according to the Calgary Herald, but it’s all contingent on receiving funds from the province with no decision on that coming until at least December.
If the funding is secured, major changes could come to the area within five years.
