The city is looking for help in controlling muskrats taking over some waterways.
The critters’ population is growing quickly in the Shepard Constructed Storm Water Treatment Wetland and Ralph Klein Legacy Park in the southeast.
The Calgary Sun reports about 300 muskrats were living in the area back in October 2010, with an estimated 40-80 migrating there per month since then.
A bid is now open for a contractor to monitor the situation, and control the problem if it gets out of hand.
Alderman Shane Keating says it’s likely the animals were driven from their regular homes by construction nearby.
