Hundreds of Calgarians did a little spring cleaning on Saturday, taking boxes of personal documents to an AMA-sponsored shred-it event at Southcentre.

Police say the best way to protect yourself from possible identity theft is to properly destroy financial documents like credit card and bank statements, and to protect your pin number when making a transaction.

The next Shred-it event is May 26th at Sir Winston Churchill High School in the northwest.
