A local group is looking to the past for inspiration in celebrating this November’s centennial Grey Cup game in Toronto.
A train trip is in the works to bring boisterous Calgary fans to Toronto with hopes of re-creating 1948’s Grey Cup experience when the Stampeders garnered their first championship.
Organizers with Blue Sky Tours and Executive Transportation tell The Calgary Sun they’ll even try to replicate a horse ride through the Royal York Hotel, just as they did those many decades ago.
Other than the era, there’s one other big difference this time around; Stamps fans will have to take a bus to Edmonton to get on the trans-continental train because it no longer goes direct from Calgary.
