Athabasca County is under a wildfire alert as a blaze burns through about 1,000 hectares of land northwest of Grassland.
Wildfire information officer Whitney Exton with Alberta Sustainable Resources said Monday crews working from the ground and the sky have been making progress despite windy, warm conditions.
“It’s classified as out of control right now,” said Exton. “But it’s 50 per cent contained.”
No evacuation notices have been issued, and there’s no word on how long it will take to put out the wildfire.
