A float plane carrying five people has crashed and the British Columbia Coroners Service has confirmed at least one person is dead.
A spokesman for the National Transportation Safety Board says the plane went down along Highway 97 near Peachland, southwest of Kelowna.
He says the DeHavilland Beaver burst into flames after the crash, but there was no information yet on fatalities or injuries.
The plane was flying from Okanagan Lake to Pitt Meadows.
The spokesman said the NTSB will send two investigators to the scene Monday morning to examine the crash site to determine a cause.
