Calgary drivers were making noise this afternoon.
Motorists were invited to the city’s emergency vehicle track to put the pedal to the metal and test out the noise snare.
By-law Boss Bill Bruce tells 660News a lot of enthusiastic driver showed up.
“This was our first open invitation to the public to come and see how their vehicle measured up against a 96 decibel limit. I would say it was pretty successful day, we had 205 people come out to test their vehicle with the loudest one being a motorcycle at 122 decibels.” notes Bruce.
The noise snare will be used on Calgary roads on May 31st.
By-law officers will give out warnings for the first month; after that drivers violating the bylaw could face a $200 fine.
Another open house is scheduled for Wednesday from 4.p.m. till 8.p.m.
