New police station opens for business in Airdrie

Airdrie’s new 31,000 square foot building police building is officially open with after a ceremony Saturday afternoon.

Darryl Poburan is the manager of municipal enforcement and RCMP in Airdrie and says the new building is badly needed.

“The current building is just over 9,500 square feet, and we have people in every storage room and filing room,” explains Poburan.

RCMP and municipal forces will share the new location at 2 Highland Park Way N.E., with about 90 people stationed there.

The ceremony included displays from the K-9 Unit and the RCMP Emergency Response Team along with tours of the new facility.
