Time to plant the veggies!

With some warmer weather in the forecast, now is a good time to plant hot-weather vegetable crops in your background garden.
You can even buy seedlings in squash, watermelon, cucumbers, tomatoes and pepper varieties if you’re looking for a quick crop of fresh produce.
You may have already planted your first crop but it’s never too late to add vegetables to the mix.
Whether you’re using seedlings or you’re sewing seeds, Scott Stoner from Bluegrass Garden Centre says you’ll be able to grow almost anything under the right conditions.
“Full sun, anywhere from six hours or more, soil should be well-composted. Everybody says the soil is really hard to grow in here but the plants have been doing it for eons long before we decided to use it,” says Stoner.
With our unpredictable weather, a freak summer snowfall won’t hurt your plants but cold air will.
As long as there as seeds in the ground, they will be able to sprout again.
