CBE trustees pass 2012-2013 budget

More school funding, more full-time teachers and fewer administrative expenses are some of the changes to be ushered in, as the Calgary Board of Education trustees passed the 2012-2013 operating budget Tuesday night.
For the first time, the budget goes on a three-year cycle thanks to stable provincial funding.
The budget will still need a stamp of approval from the Education Minister.
Meanwhile, the CBE is facing criticism from the Calgary and District Labour Council.
President Alexander Shevalier says each year, trustees have ignored an infrastructure deficit of around $36-million to $40-million.
He adds deferring maintenance costs caused the deterioration of the Marlborough school roof and Western Canada High School.
