City postpones Noise Snare debut

Calgarians have some extra time to get their vehicles ready for Noise Snare.
The launch has been delayed to mid-June to ensure accuracy of the equipment.
Once it takes effect, owners of vehicles exceeding 96 decibels will be contacted by a bylaw officer and subject to a $200 fine.
Two open house demonstrations have wrapped up allowing Calgarians to test their mode of transportation.
It found of the 469 total vehicles measured, 47 per cent exceeded 96 decibels.
The worst offender was a motorcycle which registered 122.
Officials say exposure to that level of sound for more than a minute can cause permanent hearing loss.
Bylaw boss Bill Bruce said the delay will allow owners of noisy vehicles to address the issue while allowing time to calibrate the equipment to ensure the greatest level of accuracy.
