Second package containing body part found in Ottawa

Ottawa police are investigating a second suspicious package containing a body part, hours after a foot was discovered in a package mailed to the headquarters of the Conservative Party of Canada in Ottawa.
Police confirm the second body part was a hand, which was found in a package at a Canada Post depot shortly after 10:00 p.m. Tuesday.
Ottawa police Sgt. Steve Hodgson said the first package, sent to the Tory offices on Albert Street, just blocks from Parliament Hill, was only partially opened by a receptionist at the party’s 12th floor headquarters before it was deemed suspicious.
Const. Marc Sousy said the investigation is ongoing.
“It has to come from someone’s body, whether that person is dead or alive, the investigation will determine. From the state of the foot, they can determine if it’s from a dead body or not and we go from there,” Const. Sousy said.
A woman on the 14th floor of the building said police wearing Hazmat suits were seen in the building and that employees on her floor were told not to go to the 12th floor.
The woman, who did not give her name, also said workers on her floor were taking pictures and posting to Facebook.
Television footage showed police carrying what looked like a cooler down a hallway of the building, although Sgt. Hodgson said the package was still in the building at mid-afternoon.
The Tories said only that a suspicious package was sent to their office and referred all questions to Ottawa police.
Police said they are investigating if the foot is connected to a severed torso discovered in a suitcase in Montreal, Que., on Tuesday.
