It’s raining, it’s pouring

A rainfall warning is out for the foothills through Kananaskis and Canmore, south to the Crowsnest Pass and Waterton and north to the Nordegg area.

Up to 80 millimetres could fall by Wednesday night.

A severe thunderstorm watch has been issued for the Okotoks-High River, Strathmore-Brooks, Lethbridge-Taber and Cardston-Fort MacLeod areas.

Those storm could bring large hail and damaging winds.  David Spence is also warning we are likely to see severe thunderstorms here in Calgary.

The province will be keeping a close eye on the rain in the foothills.

Alberta Environment and Sustainable Resources Development says the outlook for runoff on the Bow River basin is normal to above normal right now, but heavy rain could drive it up.

Here is a link to a short video Environment and SRD recently produced about how they monitor rivers and forecast for flooding.
