Multi-use building in S.E. destroyed by fire

A fire destroyed a multi-use building in the southeast Tuesday morning, leaving a father and son homeless.

Crews were called to the building at 36th Ave and 15A St. S.E. around 3:00 a.m.

It housed a woodworking shop, a recording studio and a residential space.

Batt. Chief Ernie Molineaux says at one point, firefighters had to stop using their metal ladders because of lightning in the area.

“There was a person on-scene when we arrived.  He told us that everybody was out of the woodworking shop.  He also told us later on that he had evacuated two people out of the residential component of the building,” says Molineaux.  “There was a father and son in the building at the time of the fire.”
