Six NW communities under boil water advisory

Don’t drink the water.
Alberta Health Services has issued a boil water for six communities in the northwest, including Hamptons, Hidden Valley, Kincora, Nolan Hill, Sage Hill and Sherwood.
Edgemont was originally on the list of affected communities, but was later removed.
The advisory comes due to high levels of turbidity or cloudiness in the city’s water distribution system.
Dr. Judy MacDonald, medical officer of health for AHS in Calgary said the city will have to provide water samples at two different times to make sure everything is back to normal.
“The City has said at least 48 hours and that’s I think a reasonable expectation, it could be at least 48 hours, it could be more,” she said.
Residents and businesses will have to boil water for at least one minute for drinking, brushing teeth, cleaning raw foods, making ice or preparing infant formula or juices.
However, water for washing clothes and bathing does not have to be boiled.
