2012 Global Petroleum Show wraps up

Calgary International Airport will be a very busy place over the next couple of days, as thousands of delegates attending one of the largest energy trade shows on the planet head home.
Even though the Global Petroleum Show doesn’t wrap up until 5:00 p.m. Thursday, organizers are already calling it a success.
Thousands of job seekers are again expected to flock to the Telus Convention Centre Thursday, the site of an energy career expo.
Job seekers stood in line for more than an hour Wednesday, for their opportunity to speak with recruiters from dozens of firms looking to hire.
Wes Scott with DMG Events says the demand for skilled labour in the energy patch is so high, a similar job fair will be staged later this year in Toronto.
Scott says those taking in the show will be asked for their comments to help them organize the next GPS in 2014.
Many taking in the show also admit they used some of their time to make a quick excursion to Banff to check out the Rocky Mountain resort town.
Organizers estimate the show pumped as much as $100-million into the local economy.
As soon as GPS displays are torn down at Stampede Park, workers with the Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth will move in to start setting up for next month’s 100th edition of the Calgary Stampede.
