City eyes location for compost facility

City administration is proposing to put Calgary’s new compost facility away from residential areas in the city’s southeast.
A new report suggests locating it within the Shepard Landfill, east of 68th Street S.E.
Alderman Ray Jones tells the Calgary Sun it’s the perfect place for such a massive facility and Calgarians won’t have to worry about the smell.
It’s not yet known how much the project will cost but it could be up and running by 2016.
