CFL stadiums sporting big-game beer prices

This weekend when the CFL season kicks off, fans may consider enjoying a couple cold, frothy beverages during the game.

But just how much can one beer at the stadium set you back during the season?

At $6.50 for a 12.5 ounce can, McMahon Stadium ranks about average when it comes to beer prices.

At 54 cents per ounce, libations at McMahon are tied with Winnipeg for the second priciest in the league, following the beer in B.C at 65 cents an ounce.

Good news for Stamps fans, Calgary’s beer prices are among five teams which didn’t increase for the 2012 season.

To give an idea of what other venues are charging Tiger Cats fans are paying $9 for a tall can this season, up 25 cents from previous years; Riders fans pay the least at just $6 for a 12.5 ounce can.

On the plus side, pricey beverage prices at some stadiums may discourage rowdy behaviour this CFL season.

Something to keep in mind when planning a tailgate party: a can of domestic beer costs about $2 at the liquor store.
