Think twice before going on Bow or Elbow

Calgary emergency officials say the long weekend will tempt people to float the Bow or Elbow Rivers, however, they are advising against it.
Public Information Officer Jayson Doyscher said they are not banning people from using the rivers, just advising against recreation activities.
“We want people to be aware there is an added danger to it,” Doyscher said.
“Because the water levels are so high it has changed the complexity of the rivers, adding it takes quite a bit of skill to go down the river right now.”
Calgary police, including the Calgary Police Service Marine Unit, will be around the Bow and Elbow rivers making sure those who ignore the advisory have taken the appropriate precautions.
They include having life jackets, a 15-metre long heaving line and a bailer.
