Calgary Fire Department pulls body from Bow River

The fire department discovered and removed the body of a man in his mid-forties from the Bow River near Harvie Passage just after 6 p.m. Tuesday night.

Battalion Chief Larry Fisher tells 660News the police are now involved. “We pulled it off to the side and the medical examiner was called. It appears as if it’s not an recent occurrence and the incident is under investigation by the Calgary Police Service.”

Fisher says crews spotted the body floating near the weir while responding to an unrelated call. At this point police do not believe the death is suspicious.

The medical examiner is now working to identify the man and notify next of kin.

The cause of death has not been released.
