New figures from Statistics Canada says people who work in the energy patch are not only the highest paid employees in Alberta but in the country.
The average wage of oil and gas workers is pegged at $1,864.00 a week before taxes.
Utility workers are not far behind with weekly compensation of $1,775.00.
The Senior economist at ATB Financial tells 660News, not all paycheques are created equal.
Todd Hirsch says even though many positions in the accommodation and food business are part-time, oil and gas workers make almost five times a much in a week.
The figures also don’t include things like benefits, bonuses and expense accounts, which on average are also better in the energy business.
