Calgary Connection to Olympic Broadcasts

Canadian Olympic television coverage has a Calgary connection as Kyle Schewfelt is the analyst for gymnastics.
The Calgary native says he is very focused on his job behind the mic but tells 660News he does have a few non-Olympic items on his to do list.
“I’m going to see Big Ben, I’m going to totally go on the ‘Eye’…I’m going to check out all the beautiful architecture and museums and…I want to meet one of the Royals…I think that would be pretty darn cool.”
Schewfelt says he was always a perfectionist as a gymnast and that is now serving him well as a journalist, needing to know everything about every athlete.
He says he loves his role as a broadcaster and there has never been a second where he wanted to be back on the athletic side.
He adds, it’s great to be on this side of the games and to be able to share the stories that are unfolding.
Shewfelt is best known to Canadians for bringing Canada our first gold medal at the 2004 Games in Athens.
