A Liberal MLA is asking Frito Lay to boycott Alberta potatoes.
Opposition critics and labour groups are criticizing the Tories over workplace safety concerns on farms.
MLA David Swann tells The Calgary Herald child labour remains unregulated in the province.
Swann wants companies like Frito Lay and Pepsi to pressure the government for changes to the labour code.
But Human Services Minister David Hancock argues the province should not interfere with family farms.
The discussion comes as the Alberta Federation of Labour is criticizing the government for no longer reporting farm fatalities.
