The man behind the world’s longest hockey game has an entire town rallying for him.
Chestermere’s Alex Halat is among the top 10 finalists of the United Farmers of Alberta Co-operative’s Small Town Heroes contest. The top two winners will walk away with $10,000 for a local charity as well as a Paul Brandt concert for the community.
Halat organized the Hockey Marathon for Kids back in May and raised $1.7-million for the Alberta Children’s Hospital.
According to The Calgary Sun, a public rally will be held at noon Tuesday at the John Peake Park Pavillion in Chestermere.
