Robocall complaints double in past year

New court documents are now saying the number of robocall complaints have almost doubled since March.

Elections Canada has received almost 1,400 complaints alleging fake or misleading calls during last year’s federal election.

The complaints are coming from 234 of Canada’s 308 ridings.

The investigation is centered in Guelph, Ontario where a number of people have reported receiving automated phone calls before the election and telling them to go to a wrong or non-existent polling station.

The allegations are currently being investigated by the commissioner’s office.
