Technology to play key role in connecting parents with students

The kids might be going away to university or college in the fall, but staying connected is top of the mind for many parents and students.
The latest Rogers Innovation Report finds parents and students are using the latest technology, like smartphones and tablets, to keep in touch.
The report also found technology is helping bridge the generation gap, with one third of parents saying IT allows them to be closer to their children.
And while nearly one third of Canadian parents said they considered themselves tech savvy, 43 per cent said they still turn to their children to help them figure out their digital devices.
Technology is also slowly transforming the classroom itself, with students expecting more textbooks to migrate to digital tablet in the near future.
