Crews have extinguished a three-alarm blaze at the Shamrock Hotel Tuesday morning.
Lee was in a suite at the Ramsay landmark when the fire broke out.
“I just heard the alarm go off, and then I opened the door and there’s all this smoke,” Lee says, “I shut the door and I was trying to break the window but I had to wait for these fire trucks to come in and break it for us.”
To help the fire department get a handle on the situation, 11th St. is closed from 9th Ave. all the way to 25th Ave., and 21 Ave. is closed from 11 St. to 9 St.
Fire Chief Bruce Burrell is on the scene and is promising an update on the fire shortly.
The Shamrock is a Calgary landmark, and it appears the bar will reopen once repairs are made.
