Wildfire situation cools ahead of Labour Day long weekend

Good news for those planning to enjoy the great outdoors on the final long weekend of summer, go ahead put another log on the fire.
Environment and Sustainable resources reports only a couple of fire bans are in place, both are in Southern Alberta, Cypress county and Cardston county.
Wildfire information officer Geoffrey Driscoll tells 660News, even though fire bans are not in place, people still need to be careful.
1334 wildfires have already been recorded this year, with more than 800 of them blamed on human activity.
The number of wildfires is up this year over last, but is in line with the five year average.
39 wildfires continue to burn in the province, the bulk of them up in Northern Alberta, Driscoll says some of those might burn until the snow fly’s.
The final cost of battling wildfires won’t be known until the fire season wraps up in late October.
