Calgary classrooms now textbook free

Many school age Calgarians have a weight off their shoulders this year, literally.

Some schools in the city are now textbook free, choosing instead to provide material online.

The new Ted Harrison public school has fitted eight classrooms with smart boards that students can link to projectors.

In many other classes around Calgary students are allowed to use their own tablets and smartphones to learn.

But not all physical books have disappeared paperback novels like ‘Catcher in the Rye’ can still be spotted on students’ desks.
