Trustee wants CBE to disclose expenses

A trustee with the Calgary Board of Education wants more public disclosure of the expenses of elected officials.
An item on the agenda at a Tuesday board meeting turned into a sparring match between trustee Sheila Taylor and board chairwoman Pat Cochrane.
Taylor wants to debate how to make their expenses more transparent to the public, but six of seven trustees have voted against it.
As it is, trustees and senior officials only disclose the total amount of money they have spent but not what those expenses were.
According to The Calgary Herald, Taylor points to recent expense scandals, like those at Alberta Health Services, when saying being more open about their spending would be in their best interest.
