Calgary forgoes 8.7 million dollars in stimulus

Calgary is saying goodbye to 8.7 million dollars in stimulus money after an LRT platform project couldn’t be finished in time.

Construction delays tying in the C-train to civic offices and police administration have meant council has to forgo the government dollars.

A city spokesperson says the project became more complicated then they thought it would be.

Alderman Druh Farrell tells the Calgary Herald she’s well aware of the frustration with the length of time the project is taking and calls the loss of stimulus dollars unfortunate.

Calgary isn’t the only recipient of stimulus that has blown past its deadline.

This is one of 99 projects in the country that have had to pass on government funding.
