Off-roaders cause trouble in Castle Wilderness

A citizens group is concerned about off-road vehicles damaging the Castle Wilderness area in southwestern Alberta.
The area south of Crowsnest Pass is a critical habitat for grizzly bears and wolves and is a watershed for downstream communities.
But there are reports random campers are causing damage, including cutting off tree branches for their campfires.
Wendy Ryan from the Castle-Crown Wilderness Association tells The Calgary Herald they are concerned about the ecological health of the area.
However, members of the off-road community say they don’t want it designated as a protected park and instead suggesting the province put a levy on off-road license plates to allow for more enforcement of rules in the area.
