His lawyer plans to appeal, but for now Real Honorio is looking at life in prison with no parole for 25 years.
He’s one of three men convicted in the New Year’s Day triple murder at Bolsa restaurant that took the life of a gang member, his friend and innocent by stander, Keni Su’a.
The case took a twist when it was revealed the Crown’s key witness had told RCMP in Saskatchewan he was the lone shooter in the killing.
That evidence never came to light until after he was convicted.
Honorio’s laywer Tonii Roulston says Calgary police never adequately investigated the claim by the witness.
“There ought to have been an independent investigation; not Calgary Police Service investigating the RCMP and asking questions and some of the pertinent questions that needed to be asked were not asked.”
Two other men have been convicted and sentenced to life in the killing.
