Community halls in Calgary are coming under increased scrutiny by the men and women who rent them out.
According to the Calgary Herald, the halls known as the weekday home to Brownies, Cubs, and mom & tot groups are increasingly becoming the home to rogue weekend parties that are advertised on-line, and can attract the criminal element.
Last weekend at the Marlborough Park Community Center, a 31-year old man, was stabbed at a party.
A spokesperson, for the Federation of Calgary Communities tells the Calgary Herald, event promoters aren’t always honest with the answers, when they’re asked why they’re renting out a community hall.
Another federation member notes, his group refuses to rent its hall for concerts.
Police spokesman Kevin Brookwell says, they have concerns as well.
If called, they’re not sure if they’re walking into a family celebration or a rave where there’s been a stabbing.
