Tuesday’s funeral for a Mountie in British Columbia is expected to draw law enforcement officials from at least three countries.
One week ago, 28-year-old Constable Adrian Oliver died after his unmarked police cruiser collided with a transport truck at in intersection in Surrey.
His funeral is scheduled for 2 p.m. Calgary time in Langley, B.C.
The Mounties say customs and border officials from the U.S., members of the U.S. Coast Guard and Australian Federal Police will attend the ceremony with local RCMP officers and municipal police.
RCMP Commissioner Bob Paulson and several other top Mounties are expected to attend, as will B.C.’s Minister of Justice and Attorney General Shirley Bond and Surrey Mayor Diane Watts.
Oliver started training as a cadet with the RCMP in December 2008, began his first posting as a constable on June 1st, 2009 and was serving in the Surrey detachment at the time of the crash.
