Ex-girlfriend could face jailtime in arson

A Calgary woman who pleaded guilty to arson after setting fire to clothing in her ex-boyfriend’s southeast condo last year could now face jail time.

The crown prosecutor in the case argues the threat to human life was high when the blaze in the Inglewood Park complex ignited.

Rob Bassett says the 32-year-old set a piece of clothing on fire in the closet of the master bedroom after a spat with her ex.

The Calgary Herald reports the sprinkler system quickly put out the small fire, but caused significant water damage to many of the units in the apartment building.

Sentencing arguments will begin March 1st.
