Calgary Transit unveils blueprint for the city’s future

Calgary Transit has unveiled a blueprint for the future, it calls Route Ahead.
The plan to be incorporated over the next 28 years includes more LRT lines, an increased number of high-frequency bus routes, reducing the number of under-served suburbs and the possibility of fewer Park & Ride spaces.
As well there’s the possibility of higher fares for people who live in the outer suburbs, rush-hour commuters, and non-residents.
It’s a blueprint with a big price tag, the plan would cost $12.9 billion.
The recommendations make no mention of how the city will pay the tab.
Mayor Naheed Nenshi calls the plan “excellent” in Saturday’s Calgary Herald.
However he goes on to say that It will be impossible to implement, without funding help from the federal and provincial governments.”
