Calgary school boards react to tragedy

School boards in Calgary are reacting to the devastating tragedy in Connecticut.
The Catholic School Board’s Janet Corsten says they have lock-down procedures in place for emergency situations.
“Our primary focus making sure that students understand what to do in the case of a lockdown. We practice drills with students at a minimum of twice a year to make sure they know what to do if a lockdown is called,” says Corsten.
Meanwhile the Calgary Board of Education’s Cathy Ward tells 660News, the CBE’s Critical Response Team is encouraging parents to discuss Friday’s U.S. crime with their children.
Ward warns, only talk about it if the child brings it up first and to adjust responses based on their reaction rather than giving more information than they can handle.
