Support for local students following shooting in U.S.

The Catholic School Board says students are likely asking questions and have concerns following the massacre in Newtown.

Spokesperson Janet Corsten says teachers are trained to talk to students about cases like this.

“There are cases where teachers are having difficulty answering questions that students may have, we have councillors available in schools, we also have staff that can advise teachers as to what an appropriate response would be,” said Corsten.

In a statement online, the Calgary Board of Education says it has procedures in place for such emergencies to keep students safe.
