New 511 service for Alberta motorists

Get ready to program a new number into your phone.

A new free phone service for Alberta drivers will be rolled out in February; 511 will provide information on provincial highway conditions including crashes, construction spots, and trouble weather.

Officials say the information will be updated at least once a day and then as needed.

Alberta Transportation is not revealing what the cost will be to taxpayers just yet.

A website will also be set up for motorists to access road reports.
