Early morning crash leaves one dead

Police continue to investigate a fatal crash in the city’s northwest.

Emergency crews got the call about the collision on Varsity Estates Drive at Varsity Estates View at around 2:00 a.m. Sunday morning.

Duty Inspector Darrell Hesse says, “at some point in time the vehicle lost control and hit a tree.”

The victim who was trapped in the car died at the scene shortly after emergency crews arrived.

Police are trying to determine whether speed or alcohol were involved and there is no word yet whether the victim was wearing his seat-belt.
