A former star of television’s “Dragon Den” agrees with Alberta’s premier on the need for a provincial sales tax conversation in the province.
Brett Wilson tells 660News, a PST would give the province a more stable revenue stream, elevating a lot of the guess work in the annual budget process.
Wilson says because of the volatility and un-predictability of energy prices, the province is basically trying to make an educated guess on what it’s revenues will be year in and year out.
He says if a sales tax does become a reality tax offsets could easily be built in to protect low income Albertans’.
Wilson also says the province also made a mistake when it walked away from health care premiums several years ago.
