A plane crash has killed a Calgary-born film maker who made his living up in the air.
John Driftmier reportedly died Sunday when a plane he was in crashed into a mountain in Kenya while he was filming footage of the African outback.
The 30-year old was best known for working on extreme reality TV shows including Dangerous Flights, and Ice Pilots NWT.
Authorities in Kenya say the plane he had hired was in good shape and likely encountered heavy winds which knocked it out of the air, killing Driftmier and the pilot.
He was born and raised in Calgary, but resided in Ottawa with his wife.
Memorial services are planned for Driftmier in Calgary, Ottawa and Vancouver.
