Hwy 63 project moving forward

Transportation Minister Ric McIver made a stop in Fort McMurray to reassure people in the oilsands region the province is moving forward with the Highway 63 twinning.

McIver says there will always be skeptics and detractors.

“The only thing that’ll make skeptics come around to believing we’re gonna do it is seeing the evidence themselves, but we’ve actually heard some good feedback from people using the road, that say wow, there’s a lot of people out there doing work during the winter. So, that gives us faith.” He says.

The plan is to twin the route from Grasslands to Fort McMurray by the end of 2016.

In the meantime, a number of new passing lanes will open this summer.
