A new poll finds broad based support in both Canada and the United States for the Keystone XL Pipeline.
“Broad support for approval of the Keystone pipeline project,” pollster Nick Nanos tells 660News of the $7 billion project that would ship oilsands bitumjen to the U.S. gulf coast. “About 74 per cent of Americans and 68 per cent of Canadians would support the project moving forward.”
But while there’s support for the pipeline project, Nanos also senses that people on both sides of the border are getting tired of the debate and the wait for a decision from the White House.
“There is fatigue,” says Nanos, expounding on a Democratic President with a green energy plan and the support of environmentalists, “but the problem is I think Barack Obama needs to kind of drag this out so that if he ends up supporting or approving the pipeline, he doesn’t look like he’s quickly moving to do that.”
Next month Nanos will release another poll gauging the feelings of people on both sides of the border on the topic of a North American energy strategy.
