A Calgary woman will not be facing a harsher sentence for trying to murder her son, five years after killing her other child.
The Alberta Court of Appeal upheld Stacey Joy Bourdeaux’s 13 year sentence Monday.
The Calgary Sun reports, Bourdeaux tried to smother her five year old son in 2010, leaving him in a permanent vegetative state.
The mother then plead guilty to manslaughter in the death of her other son, five years before; a case originally believed to be sudden death syndrome.
The crown was appealing to have Bourdeaux serve 18 years behind bars.
