National Sport School project delayed

A multi-million dollar plan for the National Sport School in Calgary will be delayed at least three years after hitting a funding road block.

Calgary Board of Education foundation, EducationMatters, is in charge of fundraising $6-million of the $9-million to build the school.

Now, provincial budget cuts have forced the CBE to strip the foundation of $750,000 in operating funds.

The Calgary Herald reports, construction has been halted until the CBE can find another source of capital funding.

The province has already committed $3-million to the project.
