Pedestrian killed in S.W. identified as author

A pedestrian struck and killed by a car in the southwest Sunday night was a successful author and an advocate for celiac disease.

The Calgary Sun reports Wendy Turnbull was a former member of the Calgary Chapter of the Canadian Celiac Association, and published a successful cookbook full of gluten-free recipes.

Police say Turnbull was returning home from shopping when she was hit at 90th Avenue and 19th Street Southwest by a 29-year-old driver.

Police say charges may still be pending.
